Winner Verification

Winner verification is the process of checking the information submitted by the Participant in the sweepstakes, contest or raffle entry against government issued identification to confirm their eligibility and prevent fraud.

The information that is typically verified includes the Participant’s name, age, and social security number.

For additional security, some Sponsors will also have the winner sign an affidavit with a neutral third party present, such as a notary public, who can verify the information.

Once this verification process is complete, the winner can be given their prize.

The social security number is used to send tax forms to the IRS and to the winner where applicable.
